:: SkyDrive™ a value Above the Clouds.

In the world of Cloud Computing...Infinite Skills Create Miracles.

Microsoft has been @ the cornerstone of computing for over a quarter century. They have been known as the geeky step child of the Cuppertino hip when it came to design, style and delivery. However, with the proliferation of the internet a make-over ensued. Time shows that the Gents @ Microsoft have developed, matured and have had their braces removed-- remember the epiphany that launched Explorer?

As such, Apple loyalist may need to do a double take and really ask themselves "Where is the value in my Mac?" The inroads made on the hardware level by Apple are noteworthy I-pad included. With the exception of the first Mac Minis which were poorly priced (read: introduced) thereby causing a 'teleological churn' and failing to have a specified niche. Thank god for the Leopard server, right?

As with everything, the ebb and flow between these two monoliths is as constant as the tide and as constant as the tropical currents that bring hurricanes and monsoons. But alas the final battle is as GURU of GangStarr put it "Above the Clouds". Netbooks and cloud computing are where Digitas has finally reached, dare I say a plateau? The storms of days after have brought us to now the SkyDrive by MSN.

That being said, I might say that I've aided and some might say abetted to that effect. This past spring I conferenced with the Director of Platform Strategy @ MSN and U-Stream founder Brad Hunstable among others. Mercuri (Marc) and I had a few beverages and shared insights as to what was brewing in Redmond over the next few quarters and some of the big things that the MSFT team should look @.

At that time SkyDrive was not really receiving any bally-who’s, coos or accolades. It was just sitting there, as time progressed Microsoft added Office to the web for free; a move that was long overdue and that some would say leveraged their application prowess with their presence in the digital sphere. See the smile--no braces?

Marc and I spoke at great length about SkyDrive + Cloud Computing, Looking Glass and Kin. And I must say it’s good that he took great notes. If you have not signed up for SkyDrive-- do so; it is becoming a value on  the web and the Gents in Redmond are driving a beta, that when completed, will move with tremendous fury. There are a few glitches in this work in progress that are of note. The navigational team may need to hire a better IA (read: Informational Architect) finding the links when sharing files could prove to be useful; a really stellar slide-show mechanism awaits but this still needs a navigational tweak or two nothing major.

The sweep feature in the e-mail is cool, the actions menu on the lower right hand side are smart, so is the ability to show attachments in a full screen slide-show; but like I said, they’ll need some help getting these features to work better. Links included.
Still I think it is value and to have Office in the Sky and SkyDrive in your passenger seat for free; it is truly a testament to good Cloud Life, its kinda like a sexy Chick without all the fuss and like a Gent without braces. Microsoft’s ‘nebula strategy’ in the digi-sphere is growing lean and developing a musculature that others should note.

Hey Marc let’s try Lunch this time? What say you?

+JO.
