::Think of the 3-D Printer

I haven't written in a while and will preface this by saying Think of the 3-D Printer, in concept and theory, really opened the mind. Those that check in with some frequency or regularity, the Dell tanked and left me no choice other than to purchase a Laptop device. ((share in kind.))

The stem cell and scientific dexterity- are we on course or off track?
Ask John Savage...

Think of the 3-D Printer as a means of opening new doors and even realms of possibility. Now if further down the road research and advancement choose an more noble and glorious path that does not coerce dissention amongst the masses @ populous, weight or particle-- then there will be a day when stem cell research will become common place and not some dark bystander in a BNW parable, or a problem set within some mundane Orwellian paradox. However the cornerstone of our humble and feeble existence would suggest that Time is far greater than our wit, sum and resource, as is the understanding of Zero and the parameters x,y and z etc. et. al.

If one were to think of 3-D printers with a greater understanding of the moral texture and the scientific panorama which blesses human intellect and well as the human psyche. The 3-D printer is but a rough template for future endeavor. I would imagine that 3-D printers are similar to a kiln, in that they have in theory, the ability to render, generate and transform material into a new form. A kiln has the same ability but uses a different principle to achieve its means. Now depending on the material you use, you would yield porcelain, terracotta or some sort of bisque. Granted, given these certainties, and using the principles of the kiln, one might assume that a 3-D printer using genetic material could in fact, produce organs, bone or any other variety of micro-organisms. One may further postulate, that a 3-D printer could in fact develop nano-scale objects and organisms to be used in the next generation of genetic engineering.

If stem-cells are in fact clay, then the kiln analogy holds some validity. There is moral context which unravels the threads of this tapestry. Even though the analogy of clay may seem to esoterically replete itself, it does raise a question of two fold. One, even if one can develop cells that permutate and that lend themselves to further (medical and scientific) development, do cells contain a manifest and a destiny? Second, will they simply conquer, retrain and re-write the genetic map which has brought science and man to Now? Certain studies suggest that genetically engineered cells 'overpower' the physiological structure and deter their intended purpose by 'superceding expectations'. If technology is guilty of this, then are we pigs on the Orwellian farm or the mute friends of Mustapha Mond? those who know full and well the dexterity of Science and the vanity of achievement (read: accolades)-- but say nothing.

In Brave New World every actor (read: character) was placed in a Darwinian sect only allowed to drink from a specific troth to perpetuate their need and the enhance the notion of niche thinking. In either instance we are all children of a Brave New World where our understanding of the macro.verse is limited by our understanding of the Universe and a how we choose to measure our Time here on Earth.

Although, John Savage chose death...I choose Life.

The genetic alphabet has a unique syntax that in my estimation should not be played with. True, it is the new front door to previous attempts at Eugenics but ultimately it just another ethical slippery slope.
