Going to a SŌSH tonight, what about you?

Beautiful people abound...a SŌSH in SOMA.

This week I went to an event sponsored by SŌSH, the event-based website that is looking to make waves amongst the digital drudgery in San Francisco. I can say that at first glance the site and it's founders can make something special and worthwhile for mass-digital consumption in the Bay. The site is made for pleasure-seekers and purveyor's of information that seek adventure outside of the normal day to day that denizens experience once work is out.

The premise is simple sign-up with an API that brings over your Facebook log-in data and presto your in. From that point you can peruse events, leave comments, meet people who are planning to go to the same events as you are, and "(Share Accordingly.)" At first impression the site is clean and the sense that something special is in the works is apparent at first click. The party itself was no different from most start-up soirees…techies and beautiful people abound along with a bar that had no intention of running dry. I was supposed to meet a gal pal there but hey even, those who scribe for the intelligentsia get stood up on occasion. No worries. However, being a spectator and not the one throwing the bash it gave me a fresh look @ the SF digi-scene. The band [The Greening] was okay as far as requisite mood-food goes- the sound was kinda muddy + the vocals were a bit muffled, besides that the Peroni and pretty smiles made up for the stuff on the wall. I am sure the curator @ Gallery 16 had a bad day and that SŌSH's foray into *posh* had nothing to do with the curator's intent. (grin)

The creatives, programmers, brand-meisters, and social evangelicals that inhabit the city are a wee-bit cooler and more approachable than I previously imagined. I am not that much of a social recluse but I do enjoy keeping a perimater and as such- I like to watch things unfold. Rishi who greeted me at the door was cool in trendy sort of a way and seemed more genuine and reticent about the companies overall trajectory. His partners were also of the same ilk (...especially enjoyed chatting w/Sarah and the chaps from S&P), so it was a pleasurable meet -n- greet for me. Where it goes from here nobody really knows, but I do believe that SŌSH can become something special in due time. New York City get ready…

Despite the social networking communities infatuation with i-Phone and Android, I think SŌSH can emerge as a pretty decent 'go to site' for the first-date and can also be seen as a Facebook up-tick✓ when you want to get together with a group or that special someone and really don't know what's cooking in the city. First impressions are important and easily come to mind when checking out the sites feel and design. My only pixel peeve is that  a splash of orange could help the copy and links pop out more. Additional content is forthcoming this I am sure of  it's growth is inevitable as long as the curiosity of the intelligentsia is thoroughly piqued.

Trajectory is the SŌSH word of the day. For a new company, it can be seen as a real upstart amongst digital sophisticates and the intelligentsia at large.
